Why Raw Milk?
Cow’s milk is actually really good for you! One of my children would break out in a horrible facial rash whenever they would consume pasteurized dairy, and it was at that point I started to really research all there is to know about store bought milk and raw milk.
Unpasteurized A2A2 milk has beneficial bacteria, that can act as a great probiotic, which can benefit the digestive system and overall gut health. Raw milk is full of beneficial nutrients, beneficial enzymes, vitamins, and minerals – which can significantly benefit ones health and overall immune system.
There is a common misconception regarding the safety of consumption and the benefits of raw milk, but this science backed article does a great job of explaining things. If the raw milk comes from a health cow, following a sanitary process safe for human consumption, the risk of becoming ill is incredibly low (somewhere around 1 in 6 million chance).
Sourcing Raw Milk
It is my dream to someday have a family milk cow, my own cow. In the meantime, I was fortunate to find a local raw milk micro dairy. If you don’t have a milk cow of your own (many beginners in the raw milk world don’t) I would recommend searching realmilk.com.
An important factor in choosing a raw milk supplier, for me, is well cared for and healthy cows. In addition, I wanted to be sure the suppliers process was extremely sanitary. The raw milk micro dairy near me is incredible, and I am so grateful to have found them.
In some states the purchase of raw milk for human consumption is illegal, but other states do allow it and may even sell it in a local grocery store.
Ingredients

- Raw Milk and Skimmed Cream
- Egg Yolks
- Vanilla Extract
- Honey
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
Add all ingredients to a blender to mix well and ensure the batter is smooth. Pour the blended ice cream batter into the Ninja Creami pint and place the lid on tight. Store it in the freezer for 24 hours.

After 24 hours, remove the Ninja Creami pint and place it into the Outer Bowl with Handle. Place the Outer Bowl Lid (with the creamerizer paddle blade attached) onto the container and insert it into the Ninja Creami machine.

Turn the knob to the ice cream setting, make sure the full container option is selected, and start the machine.

Note: I always prefer to do a “re-spin” on the pint for a smooth and creamy texture.
A fun way to customize the pint of homemade vanilla ice cream is by adding “mix-ins” with the Ninja Creami – or of course simply add toppings to a dished up bowl. We like to add mini candies, fruit, crushed candy bars or cookies, etc. However, we most often enjoy the ice cream plain!
Our Favorite Mix-Ins
As I had mentioned above, we often enjoy this homemade vanilla ice cream plain. However, something really cool about the Ninja Creami is the ability to customize the pints! Some of our favorite treats to add into the pint of ice cream are:
- Fresh fruit and berries, chopped
- Mini M&Ms
- Mini Chocolate Chips
- Crushed Oreos or other crushed cookies
- Chopped candy bars such as snickers bars or Heath bars
Equipment
- Ninja Creami – we have gotten so much use out of ours over the last couple of years and absolutely love it!
- Blender – we love this single serve belender, however any blender will do! A kitchen gadget every kitchen needs is an immersion blender, I use mine daily!
Storage
Pints of ice cream should be stored in the freezer, obviously. If you don’t finish a pint in a single sitting, just put the lid back on and store it in the freezer until next time!

Substitutions & Variations
- Raw milk and Cream – Pasteurized whole milk and heavy whipping cream can be used instead of the raw milk and cream, we just prefer raw.
- Honey – Maple Syrup or organic cane sugar can be used instead of the honey.
Alternative Methods
This guide covers the Ninja Creami method, but a regular container and ice cream scoop will work as well. Simply remove the container of ice cream from the freezer to soften for about 10 minutes or so before scooping.
FAQ
For best results, freeze the pint on a level surface for at least 24 hours before processing.
A powdery or crumbly texture is normal after the first spin. Simply spin the batter a second time, or add some milk or cream before spinning again.
Honey is our favorite sweetener, but organic cane sugar and maple syrup can work great too!
Absolutely! For the best results, use the “mix-in” function after the initial spin.
No, eggs are not required – but highly recommended!
Yes! By making homemade ice cream, artificial flavors, colors, gums, and preservatives are avoided.
